Responsible gambling training

Mandatory training in responsible service of gambling (RSG) for persons carrying out gaming duties or gaming tasks on premises licensed for gaming machines (Clubs and Hotels) will be required from 1 October 2010. Eligible licensees, gaming nominees, persons carrying out gaming duties (licensed gaming employees) will be required to have a current RSG course certificate. It is also likely other employees who perform ‘gaming tasks’ will be required to have a current RSG course certificate.

More information about this process can be found on the Industry Training page.

Mandatory training may not be required for other gambling providers, so consult your venue’s responsible gambling resource manual. Nonetheless, it is considered best practice for persons involved in the provision of gambling activities to have some training in the responsible service of gambling. To these ends, the Queensland Government has produced The Responsible Gambling Training Framework for Industry and The Responsible gambling Industry Training Kit. Contact us if you would like further information about these publications.

It should be noted that neither of these resources will fulfil the RSG training requirements commencing on 1 October 2010 and are intended as a guide only.
