Gambling Issue Management

The Queensland Responsible Gambling Strategy is based on a public health approach which views problem gambling as a complex issue requiring multiple solutions. It includes early intervention and prevention, consumer protection and rehabilitation initiatives.

Help Services

The Queensland Government currently funds a free, confidential telephone counselling service which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as well as 13 face to face counselling services.

The Gambling Helpline and Help services can provide counselling and assistance for people experiencing problems with their own gambling as well as people affected by another's gambling.

Encouraging people to seek help

In 2006 the Queensland Government introduced a new 'Wanna Bet' campaign targeting people experiencing problems with their gambling.
