Accord document sample
A Liquor Accord document formalises the principles of the members. It forms a voluntary agreement between licensees, council, police, health, and other stakeholders or Accord members. It in no way substitutes, or directly impacts on the normal liquor licensing enforcement and development approval processes. Licensees are still required to proceed through normal development approval processes for any new or changed licensing conditions.
The document should be used to coordinate local business practices to meeting the objectives of the agreed Accord strategies.
On 7 October 2010, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) granted conditional approval for a pro-forma liquor accord arrangement. A copy of the approved arrangement is attached (PDF 45 K).
The adoption of this document is on a voluntary basis and liquor accords are not compelled to adopt, through inclusion in their liquor accord documentation, all or any of the accord strategies contained in the pro-forma.
The principles of the Accord should be reviewed on an on-going basis and reflect:
- the Code of Practice for the Responsible Service, Supply and Promotion of Liquor (PDF 380 K) ,
- the Liquor Act 1992; and
- other legal requirements as they apply from time to time.
