Indigenous Services
OLGR provides a comprehensive program of regulation, compliance, education and services for Indigenous communities, including:
- the monitoring and review of alcohol restrictions in Indigenous communities, incorporating required regulatory and legislative amendments;
- alcohol supply restrictions on licensed premises in neighbouring catchment areas supplying Indigenous communities;
- assessment of new licence applications in alcohol restricted communities to ensure responsible alcohol supply;
- education on responsible service and consumption of alcohol; and
- direction on future gambling help services;
OLGR’s program is consistent with the Queensland and Australian Government’s “Closing the Gap” strategy to improve the health and social well being of Indigenous communities. It is also consistent with the State Government’s Towards Q2 strategy in making Queenslanders Australia’s healthiest people and supporting safe and caring communities.
