Confirm your physical address
We appreciate that some types of properties e.g. rural properties, sports fields, schools/universities may not commonly use a street number however it is necessary that you find out a number that identifies your physical address.
To identify a street number for your physical address we suggest you use Google Maps (hyperlink to http://maps.google.com.au/) or Whereis.com (http://www.whereis.com) to search for your street number. Many property numbers are visible if you zoom in as close as possible. If you are unable to locate a street number you will need to contact your local council.
To acquire a new street number contact your local council. If your council has the property number listed in their database, you should be able to get a response immediately or within a few days. If your council has not yet numbered the property they may need to send someone to the property before allocating a number. You should allow up to 6-8 weeks for this process so please factor this in to your timeline for preparing your application and meeting the submission deadlines.
To ensure that your physical address is valid use the mapping service on the Queensland Electoral Commission website -http://www.ecq.qld.gov.au/elections/2009/state.html
