Alcohol restrictions for Queensland travellers

If you are planning to visit, travel through or pass near an indigenous community in Queensland, you must ensure you are aware of laws restricting the type and quantity of alcohol that can be taken into or through communities.
Restricted areas are sign posted. There are heavy penalties for anyone breaking the law (fines up to $37 500 for a first offence and up to $75 000 for a third offence or 18 months imprisonment).
For information on the alcohol restrictions in place, visit the Indigenous section of this website.
